And the award goes to...

Sigh... ok, so maybe I'm not in the best mood right now. I mean, exams start on Weds, I'm still struggling to finish both Bio and Sej and I'm still nowhere near passing my Grade Eight piano exams. So anywayz, I shall forget about them and mebbe, just mebbe concentrate on what I wanted to post.

I shall no longer mention Kim and Emm who has decided to dump me here. *sob* :D

Okay, so I know the event I wanted to talk about has been like one week ago. And somehow, for me, it seems like it's been a millenia ago. Mebbe my studies have finally got my sense of time disoriented. So all right, here goes.

Last Friday, six of us, namely Joyce, Tiff, Kai Lun, Sing Yue, Aidan and me were asked by Mr. Lee to attend some Yayasan Sarawak award reception for the pelajar cemerlang in UPSR, PMR and SPM. We were supposed to represent our form, namely the ex-form Threes, in receiving the PMR awards and also those SPM pelajar cemerlang who couldn't make it to the reception. The reception was held at Hilton Hotel and we got to skip school!

So okay, enough background info. Here's the real deal.

I was told to go to Hilton at eight- o'clock. Which I did. I came barging into the hotel, complete with my heavy sch bag. And what do I get?

Stares of confusion from everyone in the hotel PLUS no other Lodge school student there but me.

So, okay fine, I slam my bag down onto the floor and cursing silently, begin a fifteen minute long wait for the other five...

8.15 - Sing Yue and Kai Lun enters the Hilton Hotel. Well at least, I got SOME company.
8.20 - Joyce comes in and it is then I begin to realize, no one else but me has got a sch bag with them. All of them managed to pester their bro and sis to dump their sch bag in sch for them.
8.25 - My savior, Tiff comes waltzing in with her sch bag too, thank goodness. Everyone was beginning to look at me like I'm a complete idiot and nerd.

Anywayz, we walked around the hotel a little and spotted Wan Ming, my old classmate. And as we walked around some more, we begun to realize that there were a lot of "twins" or fakes around, as in ppl who look like my friends, or rather ppl I know. So here they are:

1) Jason's twin. Sing Yue spotted him first and started laughing like he'll never stop together with Kai Lun. I soon learned that he's Louis' bully victim in PBK. And yes, this guy looks EXACTLY like Jason.
2) Casandra's MALE twin. Yeah, Cas, if you're reading this, don't kill me. But seriously, this guy looks like you. It's just that he's a guy and you're a girl. :D :D :D Sing Yue spotted this guy too.
3) Danny Kueh's twin? Well at least that's what Kai Lun claims! He said he saw a Danny Kueh-lookalike driving some car past the Hilton doors! :P The car zoomed past before anyone could verify Kai Lun's claim though.
4) And finally, a girl who shares Jessica's name. Yep, jess, that girl's name was Jessica Wong too. HEHE... :D But she doesn't look like you...
5) Oh wait I forgot, we say a Mr. Lee twin too. Actually, it was my bad. Me and joyce were trying to spot Mr Lee coming through the lobby doors. When one guy finally did, I went, "Hey, Mr Lee!" Joyce squinted and then we realized.... That guy was fatter and stumpier than the Mr. Lee we know... :D Ehehehe...

Registration began at around 8.30 and resident genius, Aidan hadn't shown up. We would learn later that he actually went ALL the way to sch to put his sch bag in class before coming to Hilton. Till now, I'm puzzled as to why he took all that effort.

At around 8.40, Mr. Aidan Chan came waltzing in the doors, striding while all five of us were shooting daggers at him with our eyes. And he seemed complacent with the fact that we were mad at him for coming late. Anywayz, we went to register... before we finally realized, we didn't know under whom or what to register. So Aidan got the guts to call Mr. Lee and asked him to come right then!!! :D :D :D

There were several misunderstandings, and it was finally at around 9 that we got into the ballroom, thanks to Mr. Lee helping us to pull some strings. Seriously, I never knew so many ppl respected him. The moment he walked into the ballroom, HALF the headmasters rose to greet and shake hands with him. Meanwhile...

The six of us accidentally sat in the wrong places... coz I had the misconception that it was free seating. Ok, so it was my bad. How was I to know they put little no. tabs on the chairs??!! They were so tiny!!! :P

We waited for Adenan Satem to come... and he finally arrived at 9.30... and to our horror, we realized that us, the PMR scorers' names were left out by Yayasan Sarawak! Apparently, the Education Ministry forgot to submit our names. Garrrrrrrrr.... But we'll still be getting it though. *Beams*

We started off with some Usthaz guy opening us in prayer. Then there were speeches and finally the presentation of awards. We just trailed behind Mr. Lee when he went up to receive the awards and shook hands with Adenan Satem. After that, we had some photo-taking session. Guess what? All the Lodgians got front row seats with the V.I.Ps Hehehe... :D

The ceremony was over at 10.45. We were banned from having any Hilton refreshments :( so we were shooed off to SugarBun instead to get our lunches, which we did. But anyhowz, it was free food for us!! :D :D :D We walked/jogged to Riverside before the oth students got there, hoping to get our food faster, which in the end... still took us an hour, because some ppl don't know what's the meaning of First come first serve. *rolls eyes*

The boys went off to buy some other food, namely Tim Tam biscuits and Cadbury eclairs, I think. :P We all managed to down one burger, one plate of rice, one piece of chicken and one cup of drink. And we actually basked in the fact that while we were enjoying ourselves with food, the others back at school were drowning in boredom in the Physics Lab. MUAHAHAHA!!!! :D Anywayz, before I get on with the rest of the 'plot', I'll like to present some stupid things that Aidan did throughout the entire trip.

List of Genius Aidan's Foolhardy Acts:
1) While we were waiting for Adenan Satem to arrive in the ballroom in Hilton...
Kai Lun: Eh, I very bored le. Got anything to do?
Aidan: (calmly extracts a piece of paper) Nah, read this.
Kai Lun: (puzzled) But ... this is Sejarah notes!
Aidan: Yealar, we're having a Sejarah test on Monday, so read it.
2) While trying to register admist a crowd of students...
Kai Lun: (reprimands) Oi, Aidan, don't block the way la! Got queue you know??!!
Aidan: Got queue mer?
Kai Lun: You're standing in it.
3) In the SugarBun restaurant...
Me: (grab a cup of Coke of our tray and dunk a straw into it before passing it to Aidan) Nah, your drink.
Aidan: (ignores me completely while staring intently at the straw) Why is this straw green?
Me: (bemused) Err... because it IS green?
Aidan: (ignores me again) This drink is full of CO2 molecules.
Joyce(from the other end of the table): Duh!! It's a carbonated drink!
Me: Oh come off it Aidan, it's just Coke, so just drink it!!
4) On our way back, we had to use the escalator to get back upstairs to the main entrance. Sing Yue and Kai Lun got on the escalator first. Aidan was supposed to go next, but he just stopped RIGHT in front of the escalator, blocking the point of entry COMPLETELY, poked his head upwards and began to stare.
The woman behind Aidan, who wanted to go up the escalator, apparently thought he was cuckoo.
5) On the road back to the Hilton hotel, we had to cross some road. Sing Yue and Tiffany had already crossed the road. The only ppl left on the other side of the road were Joyce, Kai Lun, Aidan and me. Just as we are about to cross, a car turns into our road and begins to close in on us. It is at this point of time, Aidan, brilliant Aidan, decides to cross the road. :P Seriously, I think all our hearts skipped a beat.
So nevermind that he almost got knocked by an oncoming car, Aidan successfully reaches the middle of the road without any accident. Then, for NO reason, he turns 360 degrees and runs right back to us, where we were still oggling. AND the car is still coming at him, don't forget.
In this manner then, Aidan actually risked his life TWO times when he needn't have.
6) While going to Mr. Lee's Ansur (is the spelling right?)...
Me: So... who wants to sit next to Mr. Lee?
Tiff: Not me.
Joyce: I don't want.
We turn to the boys.
Me: One of you guys sit next to Mr. Lee la!
The boys look at each other.
Aidan: (confidently) I sit next to Mr. Lee. I'm going to sit next to Mr. Lee.
In the ultimate end, Aidan 'chickened out' and sat with the boys whereas poor Tiff had to sit in front with Mr. Lee.
7) Aidan forgot to let Joyce and me out of Mr. Lee's Ansur. We would have gladly let ourselves out, but we were trapped at the back of the Ansur. Nice going, Aidan.

Another stupid event, not involving Aidan this time.
While taking our bags out of Mr. Lee's car...
Sing Yue: (hauls his bag out and then mine, offering mine to me) Nah, your bag.
Me: (spots some weird brown thing on my bag) Hang on, what's that thing.
*pause*
Me: Yikes, it's a cicak!!!
Sing Yue drops the bag on the ground and all of us just stare and keep saying/shouting "Cicak!" as Tiff and Mr. Lee starts whacking my bag to get rid of it.

It's 12.15 when we reach Lodge and we're deciding where to go next...
Sing Yue: So, go up to class or go to Physics Lab?
All of us turn to look at the Physics lab and then upstairs where our classroom is.
Me: Well, we only got 15 minutes left.
Tiff: Mebbe we put our bag upstairs first?
Kai Lun: (suggestively) And don't come down again until lunch?
Me: (mutters) They'll never know we came back anyway.
Sing Yue: (slowly) I know... we walk past the Physics Lab and just go in. Make the others jealous.
We all concurred.

On walking into the Physics Lab...
Me: (knocks the door and walk in) Hi, Cikgu.
Kimberly: (from the back of the lab, yells) HI SIAW HUI! YOU"RE BACK!
Me: (cringes and greet awkardly because ppl are staring at me) Hi, Kim.
If I hadn't known better, she sounds like she's not seen me in about ten years.

Anywayz, that's all there is to the story. And now I have to get on with my studying for Sejarah exam. Gar...

Lessons in Life

Hey, this is boredom overtaking me again... so I decided to post a new entry. FYI, I'm still waiting for those two, kim and emm. Wonder how long it's gonna take for the both of them to join the blog.. Or mebbe they decided to ditch me here. How sad... :'(

On a lighter note, this entry's all about life, and the lessons life gives to us. Some funny, some hilarious, others just pure misery. Well, in this post, I'm gonna give you an insight of what I've learnt during the hols... all of them amusing, all of them interesting, and all of them pure silly (I think. You guys be the judge.) So here goes...

Siaw Hui's Top Twenty Lessons in Life (during the June hols):
I learnt : -
1) That Milo (yes, the famous M'sia choc milk powder) actually tastes like choc when you eat it raw. As in like no water, no sugar, no milk. Just Milo as in Milo powder alone. Yeah, I learnt that from my dear beloved mum... and she calls herself a doctor when she tries out all this crz stuff. :D
2) That you should never cut an ice-cream b'day cake unless you have the expertise. If not you'll end up with a really huge, jagged-edged piece. Seriously, folks, trust me. FYI, that's what happened to me during MTYP's b'day party.
3) That Casandra is a buffalo and I'm a duck. I don't know how exactly Cas came up with it... or mebbe it was purely out of her revenge on me just because she had to finish the huge slice of cake I gave her. :P
4) That "Lonely No More" by former Matchbox's Twenty lead singer is actually not bad once you listen to it a lil longer. So yes, sjane, you were right. The song's good.
5) That you shouldn't trust Mike, my youth leader, to tell you a good joke. Coz he has a reallllllyyyyy lame sense of humor. Lamer than Tania's or Akmal's even.
6) That Evelyn is afraid of April (the dog I mean) :D
7) That you should watch where you're walking in my living room. Coz if you don't, you might end up knocking into the glass coffee table and have a bruise to show for it.
8) That Agan's house is a 'jungle' courtesy of like three HUGE willow trees draping their leaves over his house's fence.
9) That you should never touch the bathroom's switch with wet fingers because you just might get an electric shock that will take you a few seconds to recover from. :P
10) That MTYP, jess and van actually write songs! As in to play on the piano... I think.
11) That playing badminton for half an hour, against two girls taller than you, can result in you having a sprained right arm. I had to suffer for two days after playing badminton with evelyn and samantha.
12) That you should not take too much 'lemang' or else you'll feel like you wanna puke after the fourth one. I tried it!
13) That rebecca is extra blur when she is down with flu. :O Especially when it comes to identifying food.
14) That fish keropok and prawn keropok tastes almost the same when you're having a flu and sore throat.
15) That jessica has this unexplained tendency of giving teddy bears as birthday presents. :D
16) That a Camry can look like a Mercedes in pitch darkness. Honestly, I thought I was staring at a Mercedes when it actually was my mum's Camry at night.
17) That you CAN cut your own finger when you're chopping shallop onions. I knew it wasn't a smart idea to pretend I was an expert chef when slicing those darn onions. Luckily, it was just a minor cut.
18) That cooking laksa isn't as easy as it looks. I ended up peeling prawns, tauge and Lord-knows-what-else-I-haven't-mentioned. Plus the laksa doesn't taste half as good as the one in shops.
19) That you should never attempt to place your feet on the comp table while leaning too far back in the comp chair because you'll fall. Head first. Actually, I learnt that in the Dec hols. And it doesn't help when your big bro is there to see your accident, coz it just has him hooting with laughter for days.
20) That you have to put your handphone on silent mode when you're in church. Coz if you don't, the ENTIRE church, let me repeat, the ENTIRE church will turn in their seats and stare at you... REALLLL hard when your phone rings.

Hmmz... that's about it I guess. Sighz... hols are coming to an end. The unfairness of it! Gar... it's gonna be back to school, back to homework, back to tests and back to studying for the upcoming exams. I mean like it's two and like half weeks after the hols. Anywayz, life's like that. I gotta learn how to live with it.

Sugar, spice and everything youth!

Hehe... I just realized I haven't posted anything for nearly a week now. And i've decided not to wait for emm and kim to put out this new post... after all, what can a girl do when she's bored? Other than watching tv and surf the mindless net? EXACTLY! BLOG HER HEAD OFF!

Anywhoz, today was a totally fun day with my church youth. If you guys didn't know, I'm one of the youth leaders together with my bestest of pals evelyn and zoe. Anywayz, today we had a meeting of all the youth leaders in youth leader, michael's house. But before that we went for a joy ride around town.

Okay, disregard whatever I said about a joy ride around town. In fact, it was more like a ride around town to FIND COFFEE SHOPS! PHEW~

Okay, lemme justify my claims. How many of you actually know that there are like almost NIL coffee shops open during the second day of gawaii? :D Anywhoz, we, the youth leaders, have a realllllllyyy, erm, I-dunno-what-to-call-it habit of going out for breakfast together before meeting back at mike's house to discuss the finer details of youth. I mean, hey, which of us teenagers, can resist free breakfast AND a ride around town? No one right?

About the free breakfast part, actually, I'm stuck with like a couple of I-O-Us courtesy of mike and joven because they're the ones paying for every breakfast I have with them. We have this stupid joke about me having to belanja their kids next time, IF they get married. BWAHAHAHA! Jk la. :P Anywayz, we had a really hard time finding coffee shops to have breakfast in town. Lemme list all the coffee shops we went to.

1) Chong choon cafe... You know the place where the laksa is REAL famous and where ppl actually share tables together and sit on benches? Yeah that one. IT WAS CLOSED FOR GOODNESS SAKE!
2) So we shifted to Plan B: Choon Hui cafe. Yup another famous place for LAKSA. Hey, come on, all us youth leaders have a craving for laksa! I mean come on, who doesn't like laksa? In case you're wondering, Choon Hui cafe is the place near Grand Continental, on Ban hock road. Needless to say, the place redefined the meaning of 'packed' So we moved on...
3) Only to find ourselves in another Ban Hock Road cafe, which we finally settled on.

Guess what we ordered?

*crickets sing* *frog croaks*

Laksa! DOID~

Anywayz, we satisfied our stomach rumblings and then we had this REALLY enlightening talk from Pastor Man Heng, who is my church's guest speaker for the next month. HURRAY! He was talking to us about evangelism and related stuff. Finally, we did get our lazy bums off the chairs and managed to get to Mike's house in one piece.

From there on, we talked about stuff concerning the youth, problems we were facing, yada yada. And yeah, I think we managed to nail the worship problem! YAY FOR US!

Mike's mum, Aunty Mary, was sooooooo nice to us. I mean, considering that we hogged her house's living room for FOUR WHOLE hours! She even cooked for us! There was like fish curry (totally out of this world!) cool cucumbers, this really exquisite sambal and this mighty fancy combination of chinese sausage and eggs (Mmm... Mmm) Hey mike! Thank your mum for me! My stomach rumbles for another round... :D :D :D

Then the craziness begun. Let's see exactly WHAT craziness it was.

1) First, evelyn and I were given the tasks of finding a new glass cup (me) and to find the food tudung (evelyn). Guess what? Evelyn and I were totally lost in Aunty Mary's spick and span kitchen. Lucky evelyn managed to locate the tudungs. Me on the other hand, gave up after a futile search, decided to take a short cut, washed a dirty glass cup and took it back out again, claiming that it was new. I'm naughty. ;) Fortunately, they didn't notice the diff. :P
2) Mike came into the living room with a REALLLLLYYY lame joke. Seriously, it's even lamer than Tan's or Ak's one. He told us a stupid joke about rainy days and how you should save money. Is that even a joke? Now THAT had me, samantha and evelyn scratching our heads and demanding an explanation. Funny thing was, Mike started laughing to himself. Ah wellz... mebbe he IS too mature for us in the end. :D
3) Joven started talking to April, Mike's dog like a lil baby while me, evelyn and sam, stood scratching our heads before finally bursting out into hysterical laughter. I mean like what type of conversation goes like this:
Joven: AWWW, April, how are you doing, girl? How are you doing?
April: (stares back up at Joven with tongue hanging out)
Joven: What have you been up to girl while I was gone? (fondles April's head) Been naughty? Been nice?
April: (sniffs at Joven's hand and then turns away to walk off)
Me, sam and evelyn: *laughs hysterically*
4) Next thing Joven does with April was to help her scratch her fleas off her. What kinda help is that? Puzzled? Evelyn, me and sam are too.
5) April tries to butt Evelyn at the back of her legs. And, if I'm not paranoid, evelyn has this fear of dogs ramming into her legs. So this was what happened:
April tries to ram into Evelyn's legs from behind, unnoticed.
Me: Hey, ev! April's behind you!
Evelyn: (jumps in horror, her bag swinging dangerously on her arm, and squeals) No April NO NO NO!!!!!!
Me and sam: Laugh sommore

Yeah well, I think that's about all the craziness there is. Well except for the fact that rebecca claimed that she's a badminton champion. Let's just say, sam, evelyn, joven and me just don't believe it's true.

So anywayz, it's almost 5.30 I have a badminton match with evelyn, sam and mebbe becky (rebecca) if she can make it. Joven and mike will be joggin there too, together with evelyn's parents and Pastor Man heng. So till next time, toodles!
