Miri

Huahaha... I'm back at the blog after four days and three nights.

So how was Miri? Fun AND tiring. Hum hum. Here goes what we did.

Day 1 - Thurs (11/5)

Arrived at the airport at 6.30. Coz Ms Teo say she'd be there before seven and we all have to be there before 7. Mana tahu. The moment I walk out of the car, NO ONE FROM SCH WAS THERE. Phooey. Then as I was about to drag my bag out, out pops someone in a white t shirt(all of us wear white shirt btw) and I was thinking who the heck was that. The person spotted me also I think and he turned around. It was Noel. And our reactions were:
Me and Noel: (same time) You?
Lol.
Then after that, everyone started showing up one by one. And for a moment, we thought that we were going to stay in chalets. And this was what Kim had to say about that thought:
Me: Eh, if stay in chalets pretty cool oh.
Jas and Sally: Ya ya!
Kim: (pauses to think) Eh, chalet is by the sea right?
Me: Ya...
Kim: Aisee, I'm scared boh.
Me, Jas and Sally: Why?
Kim: Coz the sea got pirates mah. What if the pirates break into our chalet?!
Me, Jas and Sal: ...
Oh. And Sjane was wearing a tshirt saying: Girls will be girls and boys will be toys. Haha. Quite cool boh. Lol.
Btw, the Kch Airport layout is darn stupid. We were supposed to depart from Gate 5. And we walked the whole length of the departure hall on the top floor of the airport... only to find that Gate 5 is downstairs. Sheesh.
Anyway, we managed to get on the flight in one piece (yeap no casualties due to stupid quarrels and all that) BUT I LOST MY CAMERA POUCH! I left it in the stupid airport coz when I was taking pics for Sally them all, we were asked to board the plane. So since I was holding so many things: my backpack, my camera itself, my handphone and my boarding pass, I managed to dump my camera into the bag but not the pouch. I didn't realize it until we were airbourne. By then too late liao bah. Sigh. Thank God it's just the pouch and nothing else.
Sat with Kim and Van on the flight. And when Kim and me found out we could get free peanuts, we snatched up the lot. Huahaha.
When we landed, I had to call my mum (you know how mums are la) and I had to tell her that I lost the pouch. I got blasted. After that I went to the toilet where ALL the girls went. And since there were only 3 miserable cubicles, we had to line up. While lining up, we were remarking on how Tan was taking a hideously long time in the toilet cubicle...
Sally: Haiyah you Tan ah. So long wan you. Other ppl later than you come out liao lo.
Tan: (muffled) What la!
Me: YEALOR.
Tan: Ahh shut up la.
My phone rings so I pick it up. While talking Tan walks out of the toilet and past me and to the sinks.
Me: (puts phone down and noticing Tan's INITIAL toilet cubicle door is still closed) Oy! Tania ah you! So long wan boh you! Ppl come out liao you still haven't.
Tan: (from behind me) WHAT LA YOU I CAME OUT ALREADY YOU BLIND GIRL!
Me: (turns around) Heh.
Whole toilet erupts into laughter including Ms Teo.
Then, when I was peeing, I heard this Chinese lady asking Van about the whole entourage of us...
Lady: (in Mandarin) So where do you come from?
Van: (no one else in toilet so forced to ans in Mandarin) Uh... Kuching?
Lady: (excitedly gabbles in Mandarin) Oh! What school you come from?
Van: Uhh... Lodge?
Lady: (Mandarin) You come here to what? Play? Study?
Van: (looks desperately at me when I walk out of the toilet) Uhh... Uhh
Me: (in Mandarin) We came here to play.
Lady: Oooh... (walks out of toilet)
LOL.
Anyway, we left the airport, Khang Wee dragging a whole box of chicken he brought from Kch for his aunt in Miri. We were laughing and teasing him about it the whole way. Even Mdm Voon and Ms Teo joined us in poking fun at him, saying that we needed the chicken for BBQ. Lol.
We went back to the hotel but our rooms weren't ready. So after tagging our baggages, we lazed around the lobby for a while (the lobby was really nice but it was not air con bleh) Then we went for Miri City Tour.
While getting to the City Fan and Miri Library, we passed by all these huge election posters... which all belonged to BN. Aiyah. So no competition wan. And what more, Miri only 3 constituents. By the time I left Miri, I could remember all the candidate faces. And some of them were saying that one of the candidates named Lee smth looked like Linus. HAHA.
Anyway, we went to the Lib which had cool potraits done by some local artist. And one of the potrait of a Chinese girl looked like a cross between Sjane and Jackie. And they actually dragged Sjane to the potrait to compare the both. Huahaha.
Then we went to the real library. And since there were winding stairs, one can actually stand at the bottom of the stairs, be really cheeky and see the underwear of those who are wearing skirts. And that's what one of the guys (can't remember who) were doing until they got scolded by Pivian. HAHA.
The library was pretty cool. There was the strong room where they keep all the private gov documents. And they have this huge safe, like those leading to gold vaults. But of course can't go in. Then we went to the kid's reading room and then to the garden. The garden had flowers labelled with their names. When passing the plant called JASMINE...
Me: Ooh. Jasmine!
Kim, me, Tiff: (shoot evil grin at Jasmine)
Jas: (wails) What!
Me: Eeee, so lousy wan. No flower. Only got small buds. (evil grin)
Jackson Chan: Got la. Neh this one over here. (waves hand at Jasmine)
Jas: (fumes)
Me: Oy, you supposed to grow on the plant. Get back to the plant liao. You not supposed to come out here. Later no nutrients then you die ah.
Needless to say, I got whacked mercilessly.
There was a plant named Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Noel made some stupid lame joke about it but can't remember liao.
We went to the City Fan and took this group photo on a Chinese-looking bridge in the park. And Chiew and Dexter went to take a couple-paktohing-on-bench pic. Damn funny. We laughed our heads off.
AFter City Fan, it was to the shopping mall for lunch. The mall was DEAD. Half the shops were open and there was ABSOLUTELY nothing. So we went for lunch (where we all got conned out of our money the laksa in Miri sucks btw) outside the shopping mall and went back again to scour around. And Sjane being the very funny girl she is actually sat on the musical horse (you know the one where you put 20 cents in, make stupid music play while you bounce happily up and down on the horse?) Yep, that one. I have a video of it in my handphone.
Then we went to the Petroleum Museum and the Grand Old Lady of Miri (which is the first oil rig ever built in M'sia back during Brooke's time in 1910) Took some pics but what was really funny was the ride up to the Museum.
The ride was uphill. And considering the bus contained 40 ppl, it had trouble climbing the hill. So Ms Teo was like leaning forward in her seat going PUSH PPL PUSH! PUSH! WE CAN DO IT! WE CAN DO IT!
Lol.
The Museum was smth like Petrosains in KL. But it's just that got Islam inside too.
After everything was over, we went back to the hotel. AND our rooms were STILL not ready. But for what it's worth, Marriott was really nice. They gave us cool drinks and towels on our return. Finally, we got our rooms. The hotel was kind of resort style which meant we have to walk instead of taking lifts to our rooms. Most of us stayed in the Orchid Block (which is 3 blocks away from the hotel lobby) where our rooms were 18 something. Tan, Kim and mine was 1818. Cyn's was connected to mine since her's was 1819. My whole floor was our sch's rooms. And directly below us on the ground floor was Jas' room, 1808. And then got 1803 which was Sjane's room. A few of them stayed in the Heliaconia block, where the rooms range from 17 onwards. Sat's was 1708 and Muz was 1707.
The beds in Marriott are made of feathers! You can absolutely sink in it! But the problem was, since I was the one holding the key and opened the door with it, Tan and Kim ran in first and took the huge comfy beds. I took the smaller normal one. But we compromised. Kim and Tan gave me half their pillows. MUAHAHA.
After fooling around a while and opening the connecting doors so Cyn and come over and vice versa, we got ready to go our for shopping at 5.30 Something that happened in the bus...
Someone attempted to sit next to Khang...
Khang: You want to sit next to me meh? I stink boh. I haven't bathe.
Person edges away to another seat.
LOL.
We had dinner in the shopping mall till about 8 and then it was back to the hotel for rest. But most of them used the sports facilities in Marriott. Whether it was the gym or the tennis courts or the swimming pool or the football field. Something really funny happened that night...
Kim and Tan went into the hotel room first. I was caught up with discussing the next morning's programmes with Ms Teo and Muz in the lobby. So...
Tan: (in the room spots Mentos sweets on the beds) Wah, Kim this is just like heaven. They gave us sweets!
Kim: (leans on the curtain which cannot be pulled the whole way across the windows and a scratchy sound is produced OBVIOUSLY)
Kim: (stands stock still) What was that?
Tan: What?
Kim: Got some scratchy sound. (starts hyperventilating) Oh my God. What's that? WHAT"S THAT? AHHHH!!!
She bolts for the front door to get to Cyn's room when all the while she could have just ran through the open connecting doors into the room. Tan starts to run for the doors to in the frenzy, screaming as she goes. When both reach the door, they were so frantic they kept pushing on the door to get it open when it was supposed to be pulled open.
Finally, they got the door open and they ran out and banged on Cyn's front door. Cyn let them in and they ran into her room and told her about the sound.
At this exact moment, I walk up to my room, thinking nothing's wrong and open the door.
Only to find Cynthia and Pivian running into my room through the connecting doors. And Cyn was gripping a rolled sheet of paper firmly.
Cyn: Don't worry! Cynthia's here!
Me: (lost and calm unlike the others) What's going on here? What happened?
Cyn: (leaps onto Kim's bed) You all Christians right?
Me: Uhh.. yeah, why?
Cyn: Okay, we're going to pray. (points dramatically at the curtain) In Jesus name, whatever you are, be gone! We are all God's children. Amen!
Tan: (echoes) AMEN!
Me: Amen... but to what?
Cyn: (approaches curtain slowly and I'm beginning to think what's in the curtain and she tugs it) NOTHING LE
Tan: (dramatically) IT"S UP THERE YOU GUNDU!
Cyn: (jumps up and down and away from curtain) SHIT WHY DIDN"T YOU TELL ME!!!
A hand suddenly shoves me forward towards the curtain.
Me: (walk towards the curtain and looking up, tugs at the curtain, producing the simliar scratchy sound)
Kim: YOU SEE!
Me: Huh? (looks up at the curtain and realizes that it can't be pulled all the way across the windows) (tugs on it again and same sound is produced because the railing ends there!)
Me: Haiyah you ppl! OF COURSE GOT SOUND LA! THE STUPID THING CAN"T PULL ALL THE WAY ACROSS! SO WHEN YOU PULL IT AGAINST THE END OF THE RAILING IT MAKES A SOUND BAH!
Silence. Then...
Everyone turns to glare at Kim.
Kim: WHAT!
Tan: HAIYAH YOU AHHH!
They all storm off leaving behind a red Kim and an amused me, staring at the curtains that caused so much unintentional trouble.
Then the rest of the night passed without any other incident.

Oh crude. The post is so long. I'd continue another night.

Lost and desperate, when is this pain ever going to end?
